Food preservation classes offered The University of Georgia Extension Office in Ware County will offer a series of food preservation classes monthly through December.
Classes will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesdays, at the Ware County Public Library, 401 Lee Avenue. Classes are $25 each and spots are limited.

Dates and topics are: June 16, jams and jellies; July 21, green beans; Aug. 18, pickles; Sept. 22, tomatoes; Oct.: 20, apple butter; Nov. 17, kombucha; Dec. 15, Cranberry marmalade and dried orange garlands.
WPD Jr. Academy registration open The Waycross Police Department is accepting applications for this summer’s Junior Police Academy.
The program will be 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 8-12. The program is free for youths ages 8-13 with lunch provided daily.
Applications are available in the front lobby of the police department, 512 Oak Street. Deadline to register is May 31.
The program attracted nearly 90 participants last year. The academy is designed to teach participants about police work while having fun.
The program ends with a “graduation” for all participants and family followed by a cookout.

SGRC boards meet May 20
A meeting of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission’s Workforce Development Board and Youth Committee will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, May 20) at 1725 S. Georgia Parkway W.
