Ware County 4-H and the University of Georgia Extension office has a summer filled with a variety of activities for youth.
The events begin June 2 and stretch to July 22. Each has a separate fee depending on its location and duration. Call the Ware Extension Office at (912) 287-2456 for information about the programs, which includes transportation.
A trip June 2 to Jekyll Island for those in grades 4-12 opens the calendar. Cost is $30, plus money for lunch.
A weeklong stay June 812 for Camp Cloverleaf at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center near Eatonton is for those in grades 4-6. Check with the extension office for cost of the week that includes canoeing, swimming, hiking, archery and much more.
A tour of local industries in the transporation field (airplanes, rail and auto) will be held at a day to be determined in June. Cost is $20, which includes lunch, Those in grades 8-12 may participate in a weekend visit June 26-28 to Rock Eagle to attend classes, socialize and compete for the “Iron Clover.” Check with the extension office for cost.
July opens with a return to Jekyll Island July 1 for “Search & Find” treasure hunt open to those in grades 4-12. The $20 cost includes lunch.
A trip July 11 to the Alhambra Theater in Jacksonville, Fla., to see the musical version of “Shrek” is open to all youth. Cost is $75, which includes dinner.
Students in grades 4-8 can participate July 13-17 in a day camp at the local 4-H facility. Cost is $125 for the week of fun and learning.
The summer concludes with a movie day July 22 for all ages with popcorn, candy and drinks included in the $15 fee.
