PCHS staff collect donations for fire victims The wildfires moved quickly through neighboring counties, but the local community was just as quick to offer help, including Pierce County teachers. Pierce County High School’s (PCHS) softball coach Tyler Rogers inspired his fellow staff members to bring in donations for wildfire victims. Less than a day later, blankets, soap, detergent, shampoo, snacks, toiletries and other essentials, enough to fill several boxes, came pouring in. PCHS principal Brandi Todd said, “We had heard the firefighters were getting a lot of what they needed already, so he (Rogers) wanted to focus on those affected by the fire who might not have anything right now.” Assistant Principal Tony Gibson delivered the donated supplies after school April 24. Todd said that as they gathered more another drop off of supplies was possible before summer.
