Pierce County is getting a new fire truck from the City of Blackshear.
Commissioners approved an intergovernmental agreement with the City of Blackshear for the purchase of a 2000 International single cab fire truck from the Blackshear Fire Department. The county will buy the truck for $30,000. A brand new model retails for $635,000.
Pierce County Volunteer Fire Chief Chris Todd said he is very familiar with the truck and worked on it during his years with the local fire department.
The truck has 24,688 miles on it and includes a 1,250 GPM Waterous pump, a 1,000-gallon water tank, a booster reel, five 2.5-inch outlets, and two 1.5-inch cross lays. It is also pump certified through 2026.
