The Okefenokee Heritage Center celebrated its annual Steve Bean Youth Art Exhibition with a reception and awards ceremony April 26.
More than 360 students were represented in this year’s monthlong exhibition, OHC Executive Director Carla Garrett Cornett said.
“The students’ art this year was outstanding,' said Cornett. “The judges stated they had a difficult time choosing from all of the incredible and creative art this year.”
The entries of elementary aged students weren’t part of the judging, but each student received a participation certificate, a family day pass to the center, and a family history sheet compliments of the Waycross Town Committee Colonial Dames.
Middle and high school art was adjudicated and ribbons were awarded during last week’s reception.
In addition, more than 230 America 250 coloring sheets by the Clover Heritage Group were displayed in the Rotating Exhibit Room.
Top finishers in alphabetical order were Rose Belmondo, Aubryn Bryant, Taylor Costa, Aliya Courson, Maggie Faith, Mia Gonzalez, Addisyn Griner, Curtavia Jacobs, Ben Johnson, Ryleigh Jones, Arianna Mitchell, Kacie Perritt, Nicolas Seifert, Alexis Smith, and Kymoura Williams.
“We want to thank all of the students, the wonderful art teachers, the supportive parents, the board and staff, the 4-H Leaders and the fabulous OHC volunteers for another great event,” said Cornett.
“We are already looking forward to next year.”
