The University of Georgia Extension Office in Ware County will offer a series of food preservation classes beginning next week and concluding in December.
Classes will be held monthly starting at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 19 at the Ware County Public Library, 401 Lee Avenue. Tabitha Kirkendall, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent with the extension office will conduct the classes.
Classes are $25 each and will focus on a different topic each month. Spots are limited with reservations and questions to Kirkendall at (912) 490-2456 or [email protected].
Payment can be made in cash, check or card at the extension office, 3225 Harris Road.
Participation will be on a first-comefirst-served basis.
Dates and topics of the classes are:
• May 19: Canning 101 and strawberry freezer jam;
• June 16: Jams and jellies;
• July 21: Green beans;
• Aug. 18: Pickles;
• Sept. 22: Tomatoes;
• Oct.: 20: Apple butter;
• Nov. 17: Kombucha;
• Dec. 15: Cranberry marmalade and dried orange garlands.
