A Ware County teen died early Friday, April 24 from injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident on Georgia 38, the Georgia State Patrol reported.

Lexon Jacob Williams, 18, of Manor, was transported after the 6:22 a.m. mishap by Ware County EMS to Memorial Satilla Health, where he later died, authorities said.

Williams was driving a 2010 Ford F-250 pickup west on Ga. 38 near mile marker 14 when his vehicle left the roadway and traveled 190 feet on the grassy shoulder, the GSP report said.

The pickup re-entered the roadway and traveled 127 feet across both eastbound lanes while sliding left on the north side of Ga. 38, where it struck a road sign with the front bumper.

The report said Williams overcorrected his steering and re-entered the roadway crossing both eastbound lanes while sliding broadside partially while traveling 131 feet before striking a guardrail with the front bumper.

After the impact, which ejected Williams from the vehicle, the pickup went airborne, rotated counterclockwise and continued 42 feet before coming to an uncontrolled rest facing east, partially straddling the guardrail.

Williams was found in the median of the fourlane highway, according to the report, which didn’t mention if he was wearing a seatbelt.

Trooper Justin Jones investigated the accident.
