Strickland
ALMA — Mr. John Lee Strickland, 72, passed away Friday morning, May 1, 2026, at his residence in Alma.
He was born November 24, 1953 in Akron, Ohio, to the late Jesse Strickland and Marjorie McQuaig Dixon.
Strickland att ended Ware County High School, and he was a member of Gilchrist Park Methodist Church.
Strickland rose to the rank of lieutenant for the City of Waycross Fire Department during many years of service, and he traveled to many places as a tile and stucco contractor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, having fish fries, and watching westerns.
In addition to his parents, Strickland was preceded in death by his stepfather, Jimmy Dixon; son, Conway Strickland; and daughter, Kelly Strickland.
Survivors include his daughter, Victoria Payne (LeeVon) of Waycross; grandchildren, Micah, Kayden, Brock, and Presley; siblings, Teresa Clark (Robbie), Franklin Willis (Linda), Rod Strickland (Diana), and Faye Warren (Edwin); his “wife,” Bobbie Drenon; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, May 6) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
