WAYCROSS — Mr. Lewis “Buddy” Dyal, Jr., 88, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026, at Memorial Satilla Health.
He was born March 5, 1938 in Charlton County to the late Lewis Jackson Dyal, Sr. and Dossie Kathleen Johns Dyal.
Lewis was a proud graduate of Wacona High School, Class of 1958. He dedicated many years of service to the City of Waycross as a code inspector, and he also was the owner and operator of Dyal Plumbing.
Before starting Dyal Plumbing, he was employed at Waycross Plumbing. He was known for his strong work ethic. He took great pride in his trade, which led him to keep his plumbing certificate well into his 70s.
In his free time, Dyal found joy working in his garden, a place where he could spend quiet moments doing what he loved. He was a faithful member of University Boulevard Church of God. A man of few words, Dyal showed his love through his actions. He was devoted to his family, and he’ll be remembered for his steady presence, hard work, and the love he had for those closest to him. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by his wife, Ima Jean Craven Dyal; his son, Grady Dyal; his daughter, Mira Bennett; five sisters, Mollie Aldridge, Glenda Faye Browning, Marion Cox, Elma Carter, and Edna Smith; and two brothers, Bennie Dyal and Ronnie Dyal.
Survivors include his children, Debbie Emond (Danny), Cheryl Lee (Joel), and Greg Dyal; daughter-in-law, Greta Dyal; 10 grandchildren, Buddy Dyal, Eric Dyal (Morgan), Nikki Carter (Jason), Billy Sweat (Jessica), Daniel Lee, Tyler McLaughlin, Miranda Little (Brennan), Brandy Head, Lawton Dyal, and Bo Dyal; 22 great grandchildren; and two greatgreat grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Rita Dyal; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, May 6) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
