ELLENWOOD — Four Ware County High School track members clinched berths at the Class 4A track finals here Saturday at Morrow High School in the Sectional track meet.
The May 2 qualifier was hosted by Mundys Mill with 31 schools representing Regions 1-4.
The Top 8 finishers in each event will compete Monday, May 11 in the GHSA Track & Field State Championships at Spec Towns Track at the University of Georgia Track & Field Complex in Athens.
The Gators’ Davion Jones and Adarius Brown shared the Sectional title in the high jump. Cameron King placed sixth in the triple jump. Jawaun Leblanc captured the last spot in the 110meter hurdles.
Another bright spot was the record-setting performance of the 4x800m relay team.
Brock Payne, Zion Sutton, Lorenzo Harris and Damari Bennett posted an eight minutes, 47.86 seconds shattering the previous mark of 8:58.
The Lady Gators did not have a qualifier in the meet. The team’s best finish was a 10th in the 4x100m relay event.
