Edgar Randolph Freund

WOODBINE – Edgar Randolph Freund, 66 of Woodbine, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 29, 2026 at his residence after an extended illness.

Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Freund’s parents were William Freund and Mary Brightwell Freund. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Yolanda Sue Godfrey Freund; and a brother, Philip Freund.

Freund was a master mechanic for Bennett Chevrolet in Kingsland and a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Woodbine. He loved watching football, especially the Georgia Bulldogs, listening to music, fishing, riding in the boat, gardening and just being outdoors.

Survivors include his son, Edgar R. Freund, Jr. of Woodbine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Banks (Christopher) of Kingsland and Mia Pace (Jeffrey) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; three granddaughters, Ali Pace, Lauren Pace and Nicole Pace all of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Larry Freund of Nahunta and Bill Freund (Elise) of North Carolina; and also several nieces, other relatives and a host of friends.

A funeral service was held Saturday morning, May 2, 2026 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick.

Burial followed in Homeward Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Andy Bobchak, John West, Chris Sadam, Larry Freund, Christopher Banks and Jeremey Johnson.

Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
