NAHUNTA — Robert Alyn Barnaby, Jr., “Bobby Blount,” passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
‘Bobby’, as he was known to everyone who knew him, was a 1983 graduate of Brantley County High School. His largerthan-life personality and his earto- ear grin as he told a funny story meant that no one who ever met him could forget his passion for making someone laugh.
Barnaby (Blount) was a lifelong resident of Nahunta, known for being one of the best mechanics around, collecting old cars, and fixing hot rods. He could be heard going through a neighborhood with a hot rod, motor roaring, and grin pasted on his face as he waved at you.
Barnaby (Blount) enjoyed riding in boats, scrolling through Tik Tok, and playing pool. No one could ever forget a round of pool with Bobby Blount. He loved spending time with family and friends and telling a good joke to make you laugh.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Judith Ann Widener Blount; a sister, Heidi Blount Wells; and a father, Robert Alyn Barnaby, Sr.
Barnaby (Blount) is survived by his father, Jack “Jackie” C. Blount; his sons, Corbin Barnaby and Jude Barnaby, both of Nahunta; a daughter, Abby Barnaby of Nahunta; a granddaughter, Mayzlee Jane Barnaby; a brother, Wyatt (Pamela) Blount of Nahunta, a brother, Robert “Rob” Barnaby, III of West Palm Beach, Fla.; the mother of his children, Tracie Barnaby of Nahunta, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
A funeral service was held Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Southside Baptist Church. Officiating the service were Reverend Chuck Allen and Jude Barnaby.
Pallbearers were Corbin Barnaby, Jude Barnaby, Wyatt Blount, Jackie Blount, Robbie Cleland and B.J. Moore.
Burial was a private service at his home.
Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
