PVBC announces Vacation Bible School WAYCROSS — Pleasant Valley Baptist Church announced it will hold Vacation Bible School starting Sunday, May 31.

VBS will run through Thursday, June 4 from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. There will be classes for 3 year olds thru adults.

Everyone is invited. There will be a free supper each night.

Emerald Crossing is the theme. Everyone wil have an Irish Adventure learning through Psalm 23. Kids will have fun learning about Jesus thru Bible study, arts, crafts and songs.

Pleasant Valley Baptist Church is located at 7136 Central Avenue.

7th annual Youth Fishing Derby June 6 FOLKSTON — Friends of Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge are hosting the 7th annual Youth Fishing Derby.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The purpose of this derby is to provide an opportunity for everyone to enjoy a fun, outdoor recreational activity.

The fishing derby is free and will be held at Folkston Elementary School Lake located behind Folkston Elementary School at 285 Little Phoebe Road, Folkston, 31537.

Participants must provide their own fishing pole, stringer and bait. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., with fishing scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.

Only one pole per person will be allowed in the water. Measurements and counts will start at 9:30 a.m., and will end at 10 a.m.

Awards will be presented to the winners beginning at 11 a.m. Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the top three winners of each of the following groups: ages 3-6, 7-11, 12-15, and 16+ for the most fish caught, in addition to one overall winner for the largest fish caught.
