Etta M. Eaddy, 93, of Blackshear, gained her wings Wednesday morning, April 29, at her home.
Born April 6, 1933 in Blackshear, she was a daughter of thelate Curtin Tomlin and Ardella Cobb Tomlin. She was educated in New Hope and Lee Street Schools in Pierce County. She accepted Christ at an early age. She met and married Thomas J. Eaddy. To this union, 10 children were born, five boys and five girls.
She was a lifelong and devoted member of the Bethel Temple First Born Church serving in many capacities including secretary, usher, women’s Sunday school teacher, mother of the church and other roles.
She retired from the Pierce County Board of Education Transportation Department and was active at the Pierce County Senior Center.
She enjoyed working with her flowers, cooking, traveling, sewing and reading her Bible.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Eaddy Sr. and her children, Deliah, Angela, Benjamin and Thomas Jr.
Survivors include her children, sons: Samuel, Joseph and Stafford (Teresa); daughters: Nathalie (Albert), Felicia and Cynthia; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 9, from the Bethel Temple First Born Church, 209 Burroughs Street, Blackshear.
Interment will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery, Moore Street, Blackshear.
The family is receiving friends and family at 220 Marion Street, Blackshear.
