
John Edwin “Buddy” Vickers III, 71, of Blackshear, passed away Thursday morning, April 30, 2026, at Southeast Georgia Health System – Brunswick Campus.
Born in Warner Robins July 23, 1954, he lived in Waycross prior to moving to Pierce County 50 years ago. He was a 1972 graduate of Waycross High School. He went to work for the City of Patterson prior to branching out on his own in the business world. Over the years, he found success in several business ventures including owning and operating Vickers’s Signs and Buddy V’s. He had also managed Pizza Inn in Waycross which led him to owning and operating Mikey’s Pizza. He would go on to work in the computer field helping many people with their computer needs. He had enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days and was of the Catholic faith.
He was a son of the late John Edwin Jr. and Grace Davila Vickers.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Denise Collins Vickers, Blackshear; two daughters, Bonnie (Joe) Edge, Millwood and Sherry Vickers (John Johnson), Blackshear; a sister, Randi Wolfenberger of Texas; a brother, Joseph (Sherri) Vickers of Alabama; four grandchildren, Shelton Strickland, Amber Hayes, LeighAnn (Seth) Carter, and Alexis (Tanner) Fairchild; three great-grandchildren, Parker Monighetti, Nova Fairchild and Logan Carter; two nieces, Kerri (Kevin) Taft and Kelly Wolfenberger; a nephew, Thomas Harris and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the funeral home. Since there will be no service, friends will be welcome to share their memories of him during the visitation.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
