Brian M. Dixon

Brian Dixon, 52, passed away Monday, April 20, 2026.
“He is gone. Some people leave a hole in your life when they pass; Brian has left a gaping crevice in ours,” said his family.
He had a gift for making the mundane feel like an adventure—whether running errands or simply spending time with his constant companion, Paige. An artist in Athens, Brian was always brimming with ideas, plans, and projects, including the Very Good Puzzle Company, which brought joy to all who met them at local markets.
He, and his big, beautiful beard, truly never met a stranger. Kind, funny, and deeply loving, he gave his whole heart to everything he did—whether serving as the voice of Clarke Central Gladiator softball games, baking the BEST cinnamon rolls or making sure everyone’s drink was full at a gathering.
A native of Waycross, he graduated from Ware County High School in 1991, before bringing his talent to Athens and his alma mater, the University of Georgia.
A lifelong animal lover and dedicated volunteer with Campus Cats, he was a devoted cat-dad to Daryl Dragon and Monty Tom T. Hall.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maryann Dixon.
Survivors include his wife and best friend of 29 years, Paige Malcom-Schechterle Dixon; his father, Truman Dixon; his siblings, Jennifer (Will) Flowers and Mark (Darla) Dixon; his nephews, Walker and Koen Flowers; his In-laws, Carla and Gary and Barbara Brown and countless friends and loved ones whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, Paige asks that donations be made to Campus Cats (catzip.org) or Nuçi’s Space (nucis.org)
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
