Special to the WJH Two members of the Daffodil Pre-K family were celebrated during the April meeting of the Ware County Board of Education.

Natasha Spradley, Certified Staff honoree, and Stephanie Collins, Classified Staff honoree, were recognized by the school board as Golden Achievement Award winners.

Principal Dr. Shawanna Johnson presented the awards, praising both recipients for their dedication, leadership, and daily impact on students and colleagues.

Dr. Johnson described Spradley as “an exceptional teacher leader who shows love and compassion in everything she does,” noting Spradley is adored by students and respected throughout the school community.

As Professional Development Chairperson, Spradley ensures all staff receive meaningful training to strengthen instruction and support students’ social and emotional growth. She also leads the school’s Graduation Committee, coordinating caps and gowns, programs, and practice schedules to create a memorable celebration for preschoolers and their families.

Spradley additionally serves on the Technology Team, aiding teachers and students while managing school communications. Known as the school’s “poster-making queen,” she fills the building with colorful displays reflecting the joy of learning.

Dr. Johnson commended the honoree’s constant smile, strong work ethic, and servant’s heart, calling her an invaluable part of the Daffodil Pre-K family.

Collins, Dr. Johnson said, is a beloved member of the School Nutrition team whose joyful spirit and culinary talent have made her a favorite among students and staff.

“She arrives early to prepare nutritious, delicious meals and greets our students with a smile — and often a dance,” Dr. Johnson said, adding that Ms. Collins’ encouragement and positivity brighten the lunchroom each day.

Ms. Collins is known for signature dishes such as pound cake, turkey and dressing, chicken tenders, and buttery grits — meals that, Dr. Johnson noted, “make sure every child is well-fed and cared for.”

Beyond her daily duties, Ms. Collins mentors new nutrition staff and helps maintain a smooth, safe, and welcoming kitchen environment. Her kindness, generosity, and steady leadership exemplify the spirit of the Golden Achievement Award.

The board thanked the two staff members for their outstanding service to students and families.
