Pierce County came together for “A Night in the Pines” at the 2026 Chamber Gala last Thursday at Eagle Station in Patterson.
This annual event brings together local business leaders, community partners and supporters of the chamber to celebrate the growth, achievements and bright future of Pierce County.
Executive Director Christi Pitts and Chief Executive Officer of Memorial Satilla Health Damon Barrett welcomed and thanked the crowd for coming out. Frank Still led the Pledge of Allegiance and said a special prayer for rain.
Individuals recognized and celebrated were Citizen of the Year, presented to Guy Lee Daniel Washington; Bravo to Business Award, presented to Carly Popham at Esthetic Central; Business Leader of the Year, presented to Watson and Eileen Coffee from Steel and Metal Systems, Inc.; Years of Service Award, presented to Blackshear Floral Shop’s Betty Riggins; S. Dow Nimmer Award presented to Pam Brooks; Leona Dixon Bright Spot Award, presented to Robert Westberry; Love Like Lana Award, presented to Jessica Chadwick; Farmer of the Year Award, presented to Brandon and Charlie Yeomans; Huel P. Walker Educator of the Year Award, presented to Julie Griner and the Dr. Katherine Hendry Community Health Award, presented to Kelli Beard of B Well Family Practice.
Pitts says each honor given Thursday night plays a key role in recognizing community members and business leaders who stand out, make a difference and help make Pierce County strong. “(The annual gala) is always a memorable night filled with connection, recognition and community pride,” says Pitts.
All honorees were recognized at a press conference on April 2.
The event also featured a silent auction for items such as gift baskets, a desktop and a kayak, among other fun prizes. Giveaways included gift certificates for Blackshear Floral Shop, Michelle’s on Main and Cotton Pickin’.
Entertainment was provided by Southbound Events and food by Angeleek with Zel’s Catering.
