Pierce County will have two National Day of Prayer observances Thursday, May 7.
The first observance will be at noon at Offerman City Park and an evening observance will be held at 7 p.m. at the Pierce County Court House.
The Rev. James Lightsey, pastor of Offerman Baptist Church, is the coordinator for the Offerman event.
The Rev. Lightsey encourages all residents to attend the observance.
The evening observance will be held at the courthouse.
The theme for this year’s observance is “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations,” based on 1 Chronicles 16:24. The day is a national observance where Americans are encouraged to turn to God in prayer and meditation.
This year’s observance marks the 75th National Day of Prayer which was first commemorated in 1952.
