South Georgia State College South Georgia State College has announced its honors for academic achievement for 2025-2026.
According to an announcement by Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs, Sara Selby, sixty-three students received awards for outstanding achievement in academics, leadership, and community involvement.
In addition, twentysix individuals received Student Choice Awards. The recipients were students, faculty, campus safety, staff members and student clubs and events. SGSC students solely selected the recipients for these awards.
Students from Pierce County received the following awards: Freshmen Academic Achievement Award — Ezekiel Mattox of Blackshear.
Sophomore Academic Achievement Award – CMakayla Fields and Kelsey Fuentes of Blackshear and Meaveen McKeon of Bristol.
Junior Academic Achievement Award – Allie Carter, Jessica Smart, and Lily Spivey, all of Blackshear.
Senior Academic Achievement Award – Zoey Yarbrough of Blackshear.
Excellence in Mathematics Award – William Thompson of Blackshear.
Excellence in Natural Science Award – Meaveen McKeon of Bristol.
Most Creative Student – Meaveen McKeon of Bristol.
Most Reliable & Helpful Student – Callie Gill of Blackshear Dr. Jim Cottingham Leadership Award – Angelica Mitchell of Blackshear.
Phi Theta Kappa All-Georgia Academic Team – Raegan Cochran of Baxley.
Most Creative Student – Angelica Mitchell, of Blackshear.
