School Superintendent Dara Bennett has been awarded the Georgia School Superintendent Association’s (GSSA) President's Award.
Bennett received the award last week at the GSSA’s spring meeting in Savannah. GSSApresident Dr. Bubba Longgrear presented the award.
In making the announcement, the GSSA said for more than a decade, Bennett has proven to be a highly effective educational leader, both as a high school principal and as a superintendent.
“She leads with a sharp focus on student learning, teacher quality, and highly effective instructional methods. Her district regularly ranks near the top of the state in academic achievement, which is a direct reflection of her leadership. She has developed a culture of excellence in her district by establishing high standards for teaching and learning at every school,” said the GSSA presidentelect, Craig Lockhart.
Bennett has served as superindent since 2020 and prior to that was principal at Pierce County High School.
