Patterson City Council Highlights

(The Patterson City Council discussed and/or voted on the following items during their monthly meeting Thursday, April 16. The meeting was delayed a week due to a scheduling conflict. ) Rumble strips/lift stations: Mayor Dedi Thomas reported rumble strips would be installed on Echols Street near Bethlehem Church and the Patterson Cemetery to warn motorists to slow down as they enter the city limits and approach the curve near Williams Street. A roll-over accident occurred there the day of the city council meeting. (See related story.) Councilman Jake Echols reported the city has received the new replacement lift stations for both Industrial Boulevard and Hyers Street which will be installed in coming months.

Richard Griffis Brick Room: Mayor Thomas reported renovations are underway in the Richard Griffis Brick Room at Eagle Station.

Department reports: The police report and fire department and public works reports were submitted in writing. Police Chief Nick Strickland and Fire Chief/Public Works superintendent Stokes had responded to a traffic accident and were not present for the meeting. The Patterson Police Department responded to a total of 32 calls in March. Officers initiated three traffic stops and issued one citation. The fire department responded to five fire calls and three medical assist calls during March. Firemen also participated in four training events for a total of 14 hours of in service training. There was no report from City Clerk Laura Kate Dixon.

Brief meeting: The meeting was very brief, lasting less than five minutes.

Next meeting: The next regular monthly meeting will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Eagle Station.
