WAYCROSS — Carolyn Kilcrease Tanzer, 96, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, in Waycross.
She was born Carolyn Rose Moody on January 14, 1930 to Elvin Lester Moody and Rosie Idell McLamb Moody. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her sister, Sarah Eloise Moody Howard of Blackshear.
Known for her beauty, style and flair for entertaining, cooking and gardening, Mrs. Tanzer generously opened her home to family and friends. A lifelong Christian, she

was devoted to the church and actively volunteered in any capacity.
She married Robert Dawson “Bobby” Kilcrease, Jr. in 1948 and they had three children. He passed away in 1970 at the age of 44 after a long illness. Following his death, she committed to being a mother for her young children.
Several years later she met and married Jerome Tanzer of New York, N.Y. They traveled the world and enjoyed homes in New York, Georgia and Florida, making lifelong friends wherever they landed. “Jerry” was truly beloved as the father and grandfather of all the Kilcreases.
Mrs. Tanzer is survived by her daughter, Seleta Kilcrease Lee (Andy) of Waycross, Robert Dawson Kilcrease, III (Jennifer) of Dawsonville, Ga., and Dr. Kelly Kilcrease of Epping, N.H.; grandchildren, Heather Davis Marx (Bruce), Robert Dawson Kilcrease, IV (Brooke), Schyler Lee Dees (Chris), Makayla Kilcrease, and Alek Medic (Kelly); great grandchildren, Sabrina Marx Cooper (Jerrek), Caylee Marx Banks (Aaron), Rileigh Dees, Caden Dees, Remi Lee Kilcrease, Robert Dawson “Branch” Kilcrease, V, Azra Mae Medic, and Kade Medic; as well as great-great grandchildren, Brylinn Mixon, Khmari Cooper, Aspen Cooper, Piper Banks, Paisley Banks, Pearl Banks and Parklynn Banks.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 23, in Oakland Cemetery.
The family requests honorary pallbearers be the Gleaners Sunday School Class and the Green Thumb Garden Club and be at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
