WAYCROSS — Mrs. Marie M. Rowell, 84, passed away peacefully at her residence Wednesday morning, April 15, 2026.
Mrs. Rowell was born March 5, 1942 in Waycross to the late John Henry Mercer and Oleta Woods Mercer. She devoted 31 years of service as a paraprofessional at Hoboken Elementary School, where she touched the lives of many students and colleagues.
Mrs. Rowell was also a faithful member of Williams Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Richard Rowell of Waycross; her three children, Tim Rowell (Donna) of Nahunta, Jason Rowell of Waycross and John Rowell (Kellie) of Waycross; six grandchildren, Ashley Parker, Candace Rowell, Stephen Rowell, Renae Putala, Karis Clark and Mollie Wolfe; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Friday, April 17, 2026, at Hoboken City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Hospice Satilla, 808 Evergreen Way, Waycross, GA 31501.
