Jeffrey Ray Hayes

WAYCROSS — Mr. Jeffrey Ray Hayes, 67 of Waycross, died Thursday afternoon, April 16 at Memorial Satilla Health after a sudden illness.

Hayes was born in Waycross to the late Rev. Emerson “Pete” Hayes and Shirley Adams Hayes. He had made Waycross his home for his entire life. and was retired from Hayes

United Insurance Company of America after 34 years of service.

Hayes was a member of Woodard Chapel, where he loved to minister through singing. A man with a great sense of humor, Hayes always brightened the day of anyone he encountered.

He enjoyed working on and riding his dune buggies. An avid fan of all sports, Hayes especially loved Ware County football and University of Georgia football, rarely missing a game.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David E. Hayes.

Hayes is survived by three children, Landi Winder and her husband Paul of Nahunta, Shane Farmer and his wife Shannon of Hoboken, Michelle Farmer of Warner Robins; his grandchildren, Greyson Winder, Bella Winder, Tanner Farmer and his wife Madison, Laine Farmer, Gunner Farmer, Bryson Farmer and his wife Allee, Gavin Hall and his wife Jadyn, and Zayden Rigdon; “relative” Elijah Green; his great grandchildren, Aiden Farmer, Asher Farmer, Sophia Farmer, Paxton Farmer, Easton Farmer, Emorsyn Farmer, Grayson Farmer, Leo Farmer and Adalyn Hall; his sister-in-law, Beth Hayes of Waycross and numerous other relatives.

A funeral service ws held Monday, April 20 at Woodard Chapel.

Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.
