Brian Sturdy

Brian Sidney Frederick Sturdy, 90, of Jefferson, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026.
He was born in Camberwell, England, son of the late Sidney George Sturdy and the late Elizabeth Hoskins Sturdy, both of England. He served in the Royal Air Force and earned a degree inelectrical engineering. He worked for Marconi Avionics, the company that moved Brian, his wife and three children to Fort Worth, Texas in 1967. In the summers, he took the family on trips to see various places in the United States. In 1974, Marconi moved Brian to Georgia.  After retirement from Marconi, he followed his passion in farming and started his own farm in Dawsonville, and then Dahlonega. He raised a variety of animals including cows, pigs, goats and chickens. He was rarely seen without his beloved dogs by his side. 
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, June Winifred Jackson Sturdy.
Survivors include his children, Julie Smith and her husband Chris, Patterson, Wendy Alexander and her husband Gerald, Dahlonega and Rodney and Christine Sturdy, Jefferson; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Qaishun) Rivers, Holly (Jason) Gabb-Hammond, Cale (Kat) Roper, Cindy (Brad) O’Neal, Nick (Miranda) Sturdy and Tim (Katherine) Watkins and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18, from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Mobley officiating.
Evans Funeral Home Inc. of Jefferson was in charge of arrangements.
