‘King of Terror’ identity may come as a surprise

The Bible says:

“His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of.”

— Job 18: 14

There are a lot of kings named in the Bible and some of them are mentioned numerous times, but “the king of terrors” is only mentioned one time.

This king has no alias, no other name, and isn’t positively identified. But according to Job, he’s someone the wicked meet sometime after they depart from their earthly life.

Some people believe Satan would be a terrible person to meet. Some think Satan is in Hell now or one day will be, and will walk all through Hell tormenting people; jabbing them with the pitchfork they think he has and laughing at them as they scream with pain in that place of endless night and suffering.

Though Satan will one day be cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity, (Revelations 20: 10) he is until that day free to travel the world (Job 1: 7; 2: 2; 1 Peter 5: 8) enticing, seducing, and deceiving men with his lies, lest they come to the knowledge of the truth. And when Satan is cast into Hell with all his angels, along with the lost, he will be screaming with pain just like everyone else there, and will be terrorizing no one.

Satan before his fall was the highest angel before God, and in all his glory and power was a terror and beauty to behold, but he is not the “king of terrors.” There have been gang leaders who have with their gangs terrorized communities with their shootings and drugs and robberies.

There have been despots who exercised their power to rule tyrannically, and committed genocide against their own people. But they are not “the king of terror.”

“The king of terror” is none other than Jesus Christ. To the one who dies in their sin He will be the “King of Terror.”

This is because they rejected His receiving their terror for them at Calvary that He might offer them peace, salvation, mercy, compassion, love, and forgiveness, they will then receive His terror on Judgment Day which He will rain down on them for eternity.

On that day when Jesus Christ stands in all His glory, beauty, splendor, and power, He will be a “Holy Terror” to those who rejected Him as Lord and Savior as he subjugates them to the terrors that await them in Hell.
