Waycross attorney Huey W. Spearman, J.D., has been appointed to the Memorial Satilla Health Board of Trustees, the hospital announced last week.
Spearman brings more than four decades of legal experience and a longstanding commitment to public service in Waycross and Ware County. He currently serves as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Waycross and is the founder of The Spearman Law Firm, where he has practiced since 1997, focusing on a wide range of legal areas including family law, probate, personal injury, and civil matters.

Throughout his career, Spearman has held several key leadership roles in local government, including serving as City Attorney for Waycross from 2010 to 2014, and County Attorney for Ware County from 2002 to 2010. His work has included advising elected officials, drafting ordinances and contracts, and supporting major community initiatives.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Spearman has been deeply involved in civic and community organizations. He has served on the boards of the YMCA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southeast Georgia, Hospice Satilla Association, and the American Red Cross, among others. His commitment to community engagement also includes leadership roles in education, mentorship, and nonprofit service.
A graduate of Fort Valley State University and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, Spearman has earned recognition throughout his career for both his professional achievements and his role as a trailblazer in the region.
