Fishing rodeo at rec. dept. April 18 The Ware County Recreation Department holds its annual Youth Fishing Rodeo from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Trembling Earth Complex, 2119 Cecil Brown Drive.
Youth ages 4-13 are eligible to participate in the free event. Check-in is at 9 a.m.

City accepting old tires of residents The City of Waycross will hold a four-day tire collection event for citizens Monday-Thursday, April 20-23 at the Public Works complex.
Waycross has a contract with Aggressive Tire Solutions in Baxley for tire recycling.
The public dumpster will be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the four days. The service is available only for city residents. No businesses will be allowed.
A driver’s license or utility bill must be presented for proof of residence.
Commissioners set Town Hall Waycross City Commissioners William Simmons (District 2) and Alvin Nelson (District 5) will hold a joint Town Hall meeting, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 at The Stephens Venue, 773 Ossie Davis Parkway.
The commissioners will discuss issues related to the city and their respective districts.

Candidate forum in Brantley County There will be a public forum at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 25 in the BCHS gym for candidates seeking the District 4 and 5 seats on the Brantley County Commission.
The event, sponsored by Satilla Riverkeeper, Federation of Women and Gap House Ministry, seeks to bring together all candidates seeking those offices to make statements and take questions from the audience.
The General Primary is Tuesday, May 19, with early voting beginning April 27.
Ware GOP to host Lt. Gov. candidate
State Sen. Blake Tillery, a candidate for Georgia Lieutenant Governor, will be guest speaker at the monthly meeting of the Ware County Republican Party at 6 p.m., Monday, April 20 at Hog ‘n’ Bones Restaurant, 1900 Memorial Drive A Dutch treat meal begins the session with the program involving Tillery starting at 6:30 p.m.
Tillery, a resident of Vidalia, has represented District 19 since 2017.
As chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Tillery is known for work in fiscal policy, public safety, and mental health reform.
He supports reducing or eliminating the state income tax incrementally.

PDK to celebrate Founders Day The women of the Delta Zeta chapter of Phi Delta Kappa educational sorority will host a Founders Day Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 16 at the Stephens Venue, 773 Ossie Davis Parkway.
The luncheon, with the theme of “Built on Vision, Sustained by Sisterhood”, is open to the public. Guest speaker will be Dr. Renae Sellers.
Dr. Sellars will share a message entitled “Honoring the Eight: How Vision, Faith, and Sisterhood Built a Legacy of Service.”
