CoC seeking partners for baby shower

Pierce County Family Connection, Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Public Health, Memorial Satilla Hospital and Pierce County Recreation Department have joined together to organize a special community baby shower called Storybook Beginnings.

Combining a community baby shower with a literacy celebration, the goal of Storybook Beginnings is to support families with young children and help create a magical, memorable experience.

Families will enjoy free books for children of all ages, baby essentials including diapers, and wipes, and car seat safety checks and access to new car seats (when available). Access to local organizations, services and family resources will also be available.

There will be interactive activities, games and family fun, including a “stroller derby” with themed decorations and prizes for most creative, funniest, best storybook theme and the future reader award.

There will also be a cozy reading garden with live storytime sessions featuring cozy seating and themed decor.

All vendors are encouraged, but not required to decorate their booths with a storybook theme and dress as a character or in themed attire. Winners will be declared for best storybook booth, most interactive booth and the kids’ choice award.

Event organizers are still looking for more partners to help pull off this one-of-a-kind family event, especially local restaurants and eateries that can help offer free food to families attending the event.

Billed as a high-energy, family-centered event, Storybook Beginnings will take place 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, and is expected to draw families from across Pierce County and beyond. “Whether you're expecting, raising little ones, or simply love a good story—this event is for you,” says Christi Pitts, Director of the Pierce County Chamber of Commerce. Organizers are still seeking local businesses, organizations and community partners. If your business or organization would like to be part of Storybook Beginnings, can donate materials or resources or have questions, please email Stephanie Bell at piercefc@ gmail.com.
