Nahunta Highlights

The City of Nahunta voted on/discussed/heard departmental reports on the following agenda items during the Monday, April 6 meeting.

• Nahunta Police Department: Police Chief Brad Todd gave the March monthly report for March.

There were 535 E911 calls; 285 traffic stops; 94 citations issued; 191 warnings issued; 25 incident reports filed; five accident reports filed; zero miscellaneous reports filed; 15 arrests made.

• Public Works: Jeremy Ryan gave the monthly report. According to Ryan, there were 637 work orders for the month.

Ryan also mentioned the grass is starting to grow throughout the city and his team will be on top of making sure the grass will be mowed sufficiently.

• City Clerk/Mayor report: City Clerk Angie Wirth talked about having a meeting with the architects for the Loan Grant program to either remodel the current City Hall building or build a new one.

Wirth said there will be another meeting scheduled at the end of April to go over the floor plans. Wirth added she will text the next meeting date and time to mayor and council.

She also talked about scheduling hearings for the budgets so they can receive early numbers. The council settled on two meetings later in the month.

These meetings will consist of discussing the General Fund and the Water, Sewer and Sanitation budgets. The meetings are Tuesday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 28 with both meetings set for 6:30 p.m.

Wirth also spoke about the Saturday, May 16 End of School Year Bash at Nahunta City Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The next Nahunta City Council meeting will be Monday, May 4 at 6 p.m. at Nahunta City Hall.
