Kannon lands a big bass just like grandpa

Kannon lands a big bass just like grandpa

It looks like our youngest grandsoN, Kannon, is going to be the fisherman of the bunch.

He loves to fish and just recently caught an 8pound, 12-ounce bass and then turned it back loose!

He is 12yearso ld. When I was 12, I rem ember catching a 10 ½-pound bass out of the Satilla River at the Highway 301 bridge with daddy way back in 1976.

We had hooks with worms and figured a bream must have got on the hook and the bass ate it. We never got it mounted, but did have it in the freezer.

When our freezer died, we lost all of the critters I had planned on doing my taxidermy on, so that never did happen.

I quit fishing many years ago, and hung up many of my fishing lures across the middle of my shop. I told Kannon if he sees any that he wants to use, he is welcome to them.

I also told him if anyone asked where he caught his big bass, to tell them right in the corner of the mouth and nothing extra.

I know how people are. If they find out he turned it back loose, they will be going after it for sure.
