Lady Bear linksters cop five-team match at Okefenokee

BLACKSHEAR — Pierce County’s Lady Bears captured a five-team home match here at the Okefenokee Country Club Tuesday afternoon.

The Lady Bears posted a three-person score of 133. Frederica Academy followed with a 140, with Ware County third with a 145. Wayne County shot 150 with Glynn Academy shooting 156.

“After a busy month on the road, we were excited to be home,” said head coach Stuart Stipe. “We love playing at Okefenokee and teams love to come here to play. The weather was perfect and the competition was close.

“We continue to battle through adversity and find ways to get the ball in the hole. For that, I am pleased. However, we still need to get better at protecting every stroke. We are giving too many away. We will take Spring Break to recharge our batteries and get ready for the post-season push.”

PCHS’s Bell Sinclair was medalist for the event, carding a round of 42. Mollie Kate Dixon and Brooke Dixon posted rounds of 45 and 46 respectively to round out the team score.

Kadence Hale added a 50 and Morgan Hull a 57 for the top five positions. Finishing out the Lady Bears’ roster were Rhyan Tompkins, who shot a round of 43, and Grayson Harris, posting a 53.

Annslee Kate Grantham led the Lady Gators with a 47. Lillie Livingston and Kate Thomas turned in 49s for the team score.

Finishing out the top five were Eevy Griffin with a 51 and Lily Peters netting a 62. Cora Britt and Khloe Henderson completed the squad with rounds of 64 and 65 respectively.
