Swampfest coming April 10

The schedule for this weekend’s 22nd annual Swampfest in Downtown Waycross will feature a new venue so attendees will have full-time entertainment on the final day.

The two-day festival begins at 9 a.m. Friday, April 10, and this year features a second stage by the gazebo in Doughboy Park. That stage will offer entertainment from Saturday’s 9 a.m. opening through 5:45 p.m.

The event includes about 150 vendors with a variety of food, beverages and goods, live music, contests, attractions, and activities for children. Headlining the entertainment on the main stage is the Derrick Flowers Band and The Tams on Friday, and Little Satilla and the Swingin’ Medallions on Saturday.

The festival concludes with a fireworks show about 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Here’s the two-day rundown:

 Friday

5 pm: Festival opens; 6 pm: Derrick Flowers Band (main stage); 7:30 pm: Satilla Advocacy Services presentation; 8:30 pm: The Tams (main stage); 10:30 pm: Festival closes.

Saturday

9 am: Festival opens; Car Show registration begins; comedy hour, Alec Jones, Sean Steele and Bill Huebner (swamp jam stage); 9:30 am: Steps for Spectrum Walk; 10 am: Tyler Hayes (swamp jam stage);

11 am: Waycross Line Dancers (main stage); Scott Wilson and Raybon Rock (swamp jam stage); Car Show judging.

1:30 pm: Idle Hands (swamp jam stage); Foodbeverage contests (Coca-Cola chug, DQ, Chik-Fil-A, pizza.

2 pm: Car Show awards (Parker Street stage);

3 pm: Austin Lane (swamp jam stage);

4:15 pm: Swamp Dust (swamp jam stage);

5 pm: Miss Swampfest Pageant recognitions;

6:30 pm: Little Satilla (main stage);

8:30 pm: Swingin’ Medallions (main stage);

10:30 pm: Fireworks;

11 pm: Festival closes.
