The Ware County Board of Elections and Registration will conduct a public hearing for the qualification eligibility of Ware County Commissioner Timmy Lucas in connection with his candidacy for re-election in District 3.
The board, acting in its capacity as Election Superintendent, has scheduled an appeal hearing at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, to review matters related to candidate qualification in accordance with Georgia election law and to ensure all statutory requirements have been properly met.

The session will be held in Room 201 of the Ware County Administrative Building, 305 Oak Street. It will follow the board’s regular monthly meeting at 10 a.m. in Room 201.
The hearing will be conducted pursuant to applicable provisions of Georgia election law and open to the public.
As Elections Superintendent, the Board of Elections will hear testimony from the interested parties, Supervisor of Elections Carlos Nelson said. No public comments will be accepted.
Lucas, a Republican who’s seeking a second full term on the commission, faces Jonathan Daniell and Raylan Guy in the May 19 General Primary. One of the three will need to get 50 percent plus one vote to avoid a runoff in June.
The winner among the trio is assured of earning the seat since there is no Democrat on the ballot.
