WAYCROSS — Vannie Dubose Cady, 91, of Waycross, died Saturday evening, March 28, 2026 at her residence after an extended illness.
Mrs. Cady was born in Brantley County to the late Jasper H. Dubose and Loney Mary Dowling Budose, and made Waycross her home for most of her life. In her early days she attended Emerson Park Elementary School and worked for Dairy Queen, Swains Sewing Factory and retired from the Ware County Board Education as a custodian. She enjoyed crafting, cooking and was exceptional at crocheting. She was a member of Open Door Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Albert E. Cady, Jr., Debra Waters and 12 siblings.
Mrs. Cady is survived by her husband of 75 years, Albert Earl Cady, Sr. of Waycross; five children, Frieda Byrd, Marie Musgrove (husband JV), Carolyn Heaton John H. Cady (wife Tina), and Michael Wayne Cady (wife Chrystal), all of Waycross; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service was held March 31 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Kettle Creek Cemetery.
