Layne’s brings its chicken to city

When weighing options for lunch, denizens of Waycross will have a new option available this week Layne’s Chicken Fingers holds its grand opening Saturday, April 11.

Originally founded in 1994 in College Station, Texas, Layne’s has since expanded to several states, opening its first Georgia location in Roswell. The Waycross location, which is 2104 Memorial Drive will be the second with a third planned for Kingsland.

Owner Dutch McNeal is no stranger to the restaurant business. His company, Brownie’s Point Hospitality, owns five Huddle House locations.

This newest restaurant has been in the works since July of last year.

One thing that sets Layne’s apart from its competition — apart from its selection of sauces — is a focus on fast service, Mc-Neal said.

“The goal is, from when you order to when you’re heading home, is three minutes,” he said. “From when you hit the drivethru menu to when you get your food is supposed to be three, three-and-ahalf minutes.”

Layne’s drive-thru will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Sunday-Thursday, and 10:30 a.m.11 p.m., Friday and Saturday. The lobby will close 30 minutes ahead of the drive-thru.

“We’re especially excited for this one,” McNeal said on behalf of his partners in Brownie’s Point Hospitality. “We’re going to pour a lot into all of them, but especially this one, because we live here.”
