Ryder Kinnon's runscoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning broke a 1-all tie, sparking Ware County's jayvee to a 6-1 victory Thursday over Thomas County Central.
After the visiting Yellow Jackets tied the score with a run in the top of the fourth against Ashton Suess (5 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 K, 0 BB, 1 HBP), the Gators answered with a four-run rally.
Chaden Carter drew a leadoff walk to set the inning up. After Reavis Barnes (2-for-2) was hit by a 0-2 pitch, Kinnon lined the next offering to right scoring Carter for a 2-1 lead. Brayden Tanner (1-for-3) followed a double steal with a two-run double upping the lead to 4-1 before the first out was recorded.
Hayes Sweat (1-for-3) and Brayden Davis (2for-3) delivered consecutive one-out singles. Brodie Burchett reached on a two-out, infield single loading the bases. A Ashton Suess ensuing grounder was booted allowing Sweat to score the final out of the inning.
The Gators scored in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead. Lucas Howard (1-for-3) lined a one-out single and moved up on a walk to Carter. Barnes followed with a run-scoring single to right.
TCC evened the score in top of the fourth. A leadoff single was followed by a stolen base and groundout to advance the runner to third. An error on a grounder allowed the tying run to cross the plate.
Leading 5-1, Ware County added a final run in the fifth. Carter worked a leadoff walk and raced to third on a Barnes' double. Tanner's one-out, sacrifice fly to center scored Carter for a five-run advantage.
Barnes worked the final two scoreless innings allowing a base hit and fanning one.
