Former Blackshear Police Officer Lt. Jesse A. “Jay” Lee died Sunday, March 22, in Macon, following a sudden illness. Lt. Lee had been an officer with the Blackshear Police Department for 12 years before joining the Waycross Police Department in 2014. Lt. Lee was known for his professionalism and for his work with training officers. He was also known for his sense of humor and affable manner.
A celebration of life was held at 3 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the C.C. McCray Waycross City Auditorium.
