Hortense man hurt in Sunday’s 1-vehicle accident

WAYNESVILLE — A Hortense man was transported to Brunswick’s Southeast Georgia Health System following a single-vehicle accident Sunday morning.

Georgia State Trooper Gentry Maddox worked the March 29, 10:54 a.m., accident on Browntown Road at Ravenwood Road.

David Lee Mallard, 60, of a Hortense address, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado south on Browntown Road. Mallard had a medical issue, causing him to black out.

The Chevrolet Silverado traveled off the left side of the roadway, traveling on to the east shoulder and into the east ditch for two 217 feet. The vehicle struck a power pole with its front and continued to travel south for an additional 103 feet, coming to an uncontrolled rest in the East ditch facing south.

Mallard was transported to Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick.
