Cleophus Joseph 'C.J' Jacobs

Cleophus Joseph "C.J." Jacobs transitioned from his earthly home Friday, March 27, 2026, following a short illness. 
He was born May 14, 1951, in Blackshear to the late Cleophus Julius Jacobs and the late Frances Y. Harris-Jacobs. He was the fourth child of seven children. He attended Lee Street School. At an early age, he attended church with his family at Zion Baptist Church and Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and thereafter he was ordained as a deacon on December 15, 2021 at the Kingdom Faith Church of God in Christ, Inc. under the leadership of Pastor Tony Terrell Reynolds. He was a faithful deacon who would lead prayers and hymnals. He also volunteered with Gaines Chapel A.M.E. Church as a vacation Bible school teacher. He worked as a mechanic, GATX painter and boilermaker (welder) and truck driver. He was an outgoing, friendly and full of life individual. 
"To us, he was a sweet special man, brother, father, uncle, cousin and friend," said his family. 
He could repair and build anything. He was married to Vivian Seymore Jacobs, and to that union they had three wonderful children: Timothy Jerome Jacobs, Christopher Joseph Jacobs and Miranda LaTrelle Jacobs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleophus and Frances Jacobs.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Timothy J. Jacobs, Waycross, Christopher J. Jacobs, Marietta and Miranda L. Jacobs, Waycross; a god-daughter: Randal Trier Sanders, Whitsett, NC; siblings, Carrie Hawkins and Connie (Allen) Jenkins, both of Harrisburg, PA, Minnie (William) Reid, Jacksonville, FL, Deborah Taylor, Waycross, Beulah (Earl) Evans, Blackshear and Terrell (Angela) Jacobs, Albany and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 3, at the funeral home, 985 Ossie Davis Parkway, Waycross.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, from the Emmanuel International Catherdral of the Holy Spirit, 600 Genoa Street, Waycross.

Family and friends are being received at 415 Leo Marshal Drive, Blackshear, GA 31516.  Please continue to keep the family in prayer during this difficult time.
