
Courson
WAYCROSS — Georgia Mae Howard Courson, 90, died Sunday night, March 15, 2026, at her home after an extended illness.
She was born in Waycross, September 7, 1935. Mrs. Courson worked in the Ware County School System for years, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Walter E. Howard and Julia Huckaby Howard, and her stepmother was Daisy Howard.
Mrs. Courson was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Billy Eugene Courson; a son, Michael Eugene Corson; a grandson, Kristopher Kodi McCorvey; son-inlaw, Tommy E. McCorvey; a granddaughter-in-law, Kimberly Chancey McCorvey; three sisters, Jewell Grant (husband Paul), Margaret Crosby (husband Robert) and Jean Logan Hickox (husband Lonnie); sister-in-law, Faye Bokor; brothers-inlaw, Dan Cason and Carl Courson (wife Phyllis.)
She is survived by her daughter, Julia Courson McCorvey of Waycross; one grandson, Michael Kori McCorvey of Waycross; five great grandchildren, Courson McCorvey of Waycross, Collins McCorvey of Waycross, Kali McCorvey of St. Marys, Violet McCorvey of St. Marys and Brogan McCorvey of St. Marys; two sisters- in-law, Dorothy Brazel Brooks of Blackshear and Ann Cason of Blackshear; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service was held March 20 in Oakland Cemetery.
