WAYCROSS — Mrs. Debra Sue Wilds Douglas, 69, of Waycross, died Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at her residence after an extended illness.
She was born in Fernandina Beach, Fla., to the late Edward Wilds and Maybelle Hodges Wilds. Mrs. Douglas lived her early years in Jacksonville, Fla., before settling in Waycross in the 1990s. She worked as a nurse before leaving the workforce to be a homemaker.
Mrs. Douglas had a wonderful personality and sense of humor. She never met a stranger and brightened the day of anyone she encountered. Mrs. Douglas was a mother to everyone, always caring for and welcoming in the neighborhood kids into her home. More than anything, she loved her family and cherished every moment she was able to spend with them.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammy Timmons; one sister, Kathy Allen; and one brother, Tommy Wilds.
Mrs. Douglas is survived by her husband, Jerry Douglas of Waycross; three children, Amie Timmons of Waycross, Victoria Miller and her husband, Donald, of Waycross, and Malcolm Timmons and his wife, Lynn, of Waycross; her grandchildren, Joseph Timmons, James Timmons, Jacob Timmons, Karessa Hutchinson, Triniti Harris, Kole Harris, Kami Jo Miller, Jemma Miller, Jensen Timmons, and Jonathan Timmons; her great grandchildren, Bailey and Nathan Timmons; one sister, Linda Smith and her husband, Stan; two brothers, Kelly Wilds and Eddie Wilds; along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 28 in the Miles-Odum Funeral Home Chapel.
