Ware BOE slates meeting on budget
The Ware County Board of Education holds a called public meeting at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 31 at the board offices, 1301 Bailey Street.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the proposed annual operating budget, personnel and miscellaneous items.
The agenda will be posted prior to the meeting, and the minutes will be posted on the system website at www.ware.k12.ga.us under the district and e-Board links.
MSH holds ortho joint forum Friday
Memorial Satilla Health will host an orthopedic seminar at noon Friday, March 27 in the Hospital Annex, 1800 Alice Street.
The forum is designed for those who experience chronic joint pain and may be interested in getting information about steps toward a remedy.
Dr. Robert Pilcher, an Orthopedic surgeon, will address the important question for anyone with debilitating joint pain: When is the right time to stop managing the pain and have replacement surgery?

Commissioners set Town Hall
Waycross City Commissioners William Simmons (District 2) and Alvin Nelson (District 5) will hold a joint Town Hall meeting, at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 29 at The Stephens Venue, 773 Ossie Davis Parkway.
The commissioners will discuss issues related to the city and their districts.
Voter registration drive on March 28
Love Feeds, Inc., will stage a voter registration drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 28 at E.E. Moore Park.
In addition to registering to vote, citizens can check their voter status, update information, request a ballot to vote by mail, get election information and any other votingrelated questions answered.
Lunch will be served. The last day to register for the May 19 Primary is April 20.
SFW has Easter Egg hunt April 4
Southern Forest World, 1440 N. Augusta Avenue, will stage an Easter Egg hunt beginning at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 4.

‘No Kings’ protest slated March 28
Indivisible Satilla will stage the area’s third “No Kings” protest from 1 to 3 p.m. at 1912 Memorial Drive.

Because of an editing error, the member of the Ware County Coroner’s Office who was on the scene of the March 13 murder in Waycross was incorrect in a story in the March 18 edition of The Waycross Journal-Herald.

Satilla Riverkeeper sets benefit gala
The Satilla Riverkeeper will hold a Spring Gala at 5 p.m., Saturday, March 28, at the Blueberry Hill Event Venue, 385 Lynn Holly Lane, Hoboken.
The evening will include dinner, music, keynote speaker, an open bar, and both a live auction and a silent auction. Tickets are $150 per person.
All proceeds will support the Satilla Riverkeeper’s mission to protect the Satilla River.

Unison Behavioral Health’s Board of Diretors will meet at noon Monday, March 30 in the Unison training room, 1003 Mary Street.

Free tax return prep on Saturdays
Waycross is offering the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, providing free basic tax return preparation to eligible residents.
The program, which is in its 24th year, serves individuals and families who generally earn $67,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and taxpayers with limited English proficiency.
Services are provided by IRS-certified volunteers. The Waycross VITA site is at the Ware County Board of Elections and Registration Office, 408 Tebeau Street.
It will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday through the tax season. Returns are handled on a first-come, firstserved basis. Call (912) 287-4363.
