WAVERLY — Robert Allen Strickland, 77 of

Strickland
Waverly, a master craftsman and a devoted family, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026.
Strickland was born January 26, 1959. He spent his life deeply rooted in the soil of Southeast Georgia.
Strickland retired after 43 years of dedicated service to the Camden County Road Department. He served as a supervisor for many years and cherished the friendships of his many beloved coworkers.
Strickland was a man of the community who truly never knew a stranger. Known for his generous spirit, he was always the first to step up and help anyone in need, regardless of the task. For 48 years, Strickland shared a beautiful life of love and partnership with his wife, Sherry.
To those who knew him best, he was the man with the bees. As a Master Beekeeper, Strickland turned a hobby into a legacy, working the hives with his family and sharing his knowledge with anyone eager to learn.
When he wasn’t tending to his bees or cheering on the Camden County Wildcats, he was likely outdoors hunting or fishing.
His greatest joy, however, was his granddaughter, Natalie. Whether he was teaching her how to hunt, riding in the truck, or showing her how to do things, he was a constant source of wisdom, patience, and love.
Strickland’s perfect afternoon was spent on his front porch, watching the cars go by in Waverly while the sounds of the BeeGees or The Eagles filled the air.
He joins his father, Frank Strickland, and his brother, Gregory Strickland, in eternal rest.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Sherry Hope Strickland of Waverly; his son, Josh Strickland and granddaughter, Natalie Strickland of Waverly; granddaughter, Madisen Raffaelly, of Jacksonville, Fla; his mother, Mamie Strickland of White Oak; his siblings, Anthony Strickland, Daniel (Sherry) Strickland, Laura Johnson, and Tammy (Chad) George, all of White Oak; David (Brenda) Strickland of Brunswick; Julie (Ricky) Manning of Woodbine and Nora Mort of Atkinson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service was held Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Homeward Cemetery ing Waverly.
Reverend Clifton Roberson officiated.
