Waycross is offering the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, providing free basic tax return preparation to eligible residents.
The program, which is in its 24th year, serves individuals and families who generally earn $67,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and taxpayers with limited English proficiency. Services are provided by IRS-certified volunteers, ensuring accurate returns, required quality reviews, and assistance in claiming valuable credits such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Care Tax Credit.
The Waycross VITA site is at the Ware County Board of Elections and Registration Office, 408 Tebeau Street. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday through the tax season.
Returns are handled on a first-come, first-served basis. For information, call (912) 287-4363.
