The Pierce County Joint Planning Advisory Board’s March meeting, the first at its new time, 8:30 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month, began a little later, but otherwise went smoothly.
Board members Timothy Griffis, Daniel Washington and, once the train was out of the way, Adam Hart were present. Both Rebecca Thigpen and Michelle Peagler were absent, though the new date was specifically set to help accommodate Peagler’s school schedule.
The boards February meeting minutes were unanimously accepted into the record. The board then considered a request by Allen and Griffis Construction to rezonec a 43.59 acre parcel of land on Dean Still Road from agricultural/forestry to single family residential.
The board had few questions, but Neal Griffis was on hand to supply any information requested. “We’re kind of looking to create acre plus lots for larger homes that Pierce County can be proud of,”said Griffis as he spoke about the planned development.
Griffis reassured the board code inspector Chris Bond had already reached out to the various county department heads, especially managing first responders, to notify them about potential changes to the areas they serve, which would expand along with the rezoned parcel as people take up residence there.
The board unanimously approved recommending the rezoning request for approval to the county commission and then adjourned.
