Dr. Cole Walsh has been named the new principal at Midway Elementary School.
Walsh was appointed to the position at the school board’s regu lar monthly meeting Monday evening, March 9. He is currently assistant principal at the school. Dr.
Walsh will succeed Dr. Brandi Todd, who was appointed principal of Pierce County High School last month.
Both Board Chairman Duward Boatright and School Superintendent Dara Bennett said they believe the transition in leadership at the school will be smooth.
“I think we have the right man for the job,” said Boatright.
Bennett noted that Walsh received good training under Dr. Todd.
Walsh, 39, is a life-long resident of Pierce County and a 2005 graduate of Pierce County High School.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia, a master’s degree from Troy University, and a doctorate in education from Valdosta State University.
Walsh has worked in education for 17 years. Prior to going into administration, he taught for 10 years at Pierce County Middle School and two years at Long County High School.
He and his wife, Priscilla, have one son, Griffin.
