Arington, Williams qualify for state Bass tourney

MILLEDGEVILLE — Pierce County’s Grayson Arington and Chance Williams secured the firstyear Bass Fishing program’s first-ever state tournament berth with a Top 30 finish here at the Clarks Hill event.

Arington and Williams, who played a baseball game in Vidalia a night earlier, caught a five-fish limit, totaling 12 lbs., 12 ozs., Saturday, March 7 here at the Clarks Hill event—the second tournament of the season—to tie for 27th in field of 226 teams. The Top 30 teams qualify for the finals.

The third tournament is scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at Lake Hartwell. The Bass Fishing finals is set for May 7 at Lake Sinclair.

PCHS’s Blair Bennett and Brystal Bennett, who finished 69th in the first event held February 7 at West Point Lake, placed 113th with their four bass weighing 6 lbs., 14 ozs.

Harrison Luke Wall and Jackson Morris tied for 135th with their three fish weighing 4 lbs., 15 ozs.

Toombs County’s A.J. Bagby and Tessa Jones captured the title with a total combined weight of 19 lbs., 1 oz.
