Streaking ninth-ranked Lady Bears stretch shutout streak to six matches

PCHS’s ninth-ranked Lady Bears stretched their winning streak to six matches—all by shutout— with three victories in the last week.

The Lady Bears’ (6-3 overall, 4-0 Region 3AA) streak of shutouts began with a 1-0 blanking of top-ranked Savannah Arts Academy February 20 at home.

They have followed with a March 3 1-0 nonregion victory at Toombs County, a 6-0 region win March 6 at Cook, a 5-0 region decision at Tattnall County Monday, March 9, a 10-0 non-region victory Tuesday, March 10 at Brantley County, and a 3-0 region win Friday, March 13 at Crisp County.

The Bears (6-3, 3-1) followed a 1-0 region loss to Savannah Arts Academy with five consecutive victories before falling 2-0 to fifthranked Crisp County. PCHS blanked Toombs County 2-0, downed both region foes Cook and Tattnall County by 3-1 scores and knocked off Brantley County 5-1.

No information was provided on the Bears’ matches.

PCHS closes out the regular season with home matches Tuesday, March 17 vs. non-region foe Fitzgerald, Friday, and March 20 against regionmate Appling County. The last match is April 14 vs. Coffee following spring break.

REIDSVILLE — Five different PCHS players scored a goal in the victory over the Lady Warriors.

Jayli Sierra scored off an assist from Sylvie Branch. Maya Cochran scored on a free kick. Branch scored with an assist from Cochran. Emma Strickland scored off an assist from Brylee Walker. Liza Thornton added the final goal.

CANEY BAY — Strickland recorded her second hat trick of the season with a three-goal performance against Brantley County.

Branch and Walker (assist) added two goals apiece. Nevaeh Grant, Thornton and Sierra (assist) each added a goal.

Cochran led the team with three assists. Selah Griffis recorded an assist.

CORDELE — The Lady Bears received goals from three different players and the defense kept a sixth consecutive opponent and fourth region foe off the scoreboard.

Branch netted the first of her two goals off an assist from Cochran. Strickland extended the lead with a goal off a Branch assist. Branch closed out the scoring with a goal off a Sierra corner kick.
